The moment you become a parent is the moment you will forever want to make sure that your baby is safe. There is something that gets instilled into all of us instantly and you will find yourself doing things like checking on them in the middle of the night, just because. When we had our kids 11.5 months apart, we needed a reliable Baby Monitor that could monitor both babies at the same time. You will use your baby monitors well into the toddler years. Trust me! So do your homework and search for one that you like. Check out the details for how far the range of distance the monitor can be from the base. For example, we chose one that had a bigger distance so that we could work outside if we wanted to. We found ourselves, mowing the lawn, working in the garden or even raking leaves while our kids were napping many times. There are several kinds of baby monitors. Amazon has provided great info on all the different types.

Audio monitors
Audio Monitors transmit sound only. They can have multiple channels to minimize interference, a low-battery indicator, and volume control. Some monitors have a portable receiver that can be clipped on and taken wherever you go.

Video monitors
Video Monitors allow you to actually see and hear your child on a screen. Some actually utilize infrared technology that allows you to see the nursery, even in total darkness.

Sound-and-light monitors
Sound and Light Monitors have a special LED display that lets you “see” baby’s decibel level. These work well when there are other sounds (vacuuming, dishwasher, etc.) that might prevent you from hearing baby. In addition to standard features, most have an out-of-range signal light, too.

Intercom monitors
Intercom Monitors transmit baby’s sounds as well as allow users to communicate with others in the house by the push of a button. If baby cries out while you’re in the shower, you can calm her with your voice over the walkie-talkie feature until you’ve dried off.
